The short version
Dawnly keeps your health data on your phone. There's no account, no cloud database, and nothing tracking what you do inside the app. Ads shown to free users never receive any health information — only the minimum device signals needed to display an ad.
Who we are
Dawnly is built and maintained by a single independent developer, not a company. There's no data-protection team and no call center — just one person who reads every message sent to support@dawnly.fit. For UK and EU data protection law purposes, the developer is the data controller for the data described in this policy.
Data stored on your device
Everything you log in Dawnly — your medication choice, dose log, weight, body measurements, progress photos, side-effect notes, and app settings (things like your wake time, reminder preferences, units, and goals) — is stored locally on your phone. Dawnly has no server and no account system, so none of it is ever sent anywhere, unless you export it yourself — the PDF report and CSV export pass a file to your phone's share sheet, and where it goes from there is up to you. Deleting the app removes everything Dawnly stored on your phone. If your phone backs itself up, a copy may remain in that backup until it's replaced — that's your phone's OS, not Dawnly.
Data processed by third parties
Dawnly itself has no server, but three third-party services handle a narrow, specific slice of data on Dawnly's behalf: Apple and RevenueCat for Dawnly Premium purchases, and Google AdMob for ads shown to free users. Each is described below, with exactly what it receives and a link to its own privacy policy.
Apple
Dawnly Premium is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple's StoreKit handles the purchase itself and gives Dawnly a purchase receipt confirming what you bought — Dawnly never sees your card details or Apple ID password. That transaction is Apple's own, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
RevenueCat
Dawnly uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to check whether your Dawnly Premium subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt and an anonymous app user ID generated for your install — never your medication, doses, weight, or any other health data. RevenueCat retains that purchase record on its own servers, not your phone, so restoring your purchase keeps working after a reinstall, and deleting the app doesn't affect it. Google AdMob
Free-tier screens show ads through Google AdMob; Dawnly Premium removes ads entirely, and Premium subscribers never trigger AdMob's consent flow or start-up, so no ad-related network activity happens on their device. For free-tier users, where required in your region, Dawnly asks for your consent before AdMob starts, through Google's own consent prompt, and you may also see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether Dawnly can use your device's advertising identifier for personalized ads. If you decline either, Dawnly still shows ads — just less targeted ones. Either way, AdMob receives only standard device identifiers and ad-interaction data, never your medication, doses, weight, or any other health data. Read Google's policy on how it uses this data.
Legal bases
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, Dawnly's processing relies on three legal bases: consent, for anything tied to ad personalization (the AdMob and App Tracking Transparency prompts above — you can decline, and the app keeps working); contract, for the purchase-receipt data Apple and RevenueCat handle in order to deliver the subscription you're paying for; and legitimate interests, for the core operation of the app itself, which by design runs entirely on your phone.
Your rights
Because your data lives on your device, you already hold the practical means to exercise most privacy rights yourself: you can access, correct, or export anything you've logged from directly inside Dawnly, and deleting the app erases it completely — there's no account to close, because there was never an account to begin with. For the purchase data RevenueCat holds, you can request access or deletion through RevenueCat's own privacy process, or by asking us to forward the request on your behalf. If you're ever unsatisfied with how a request was handled, you can also complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Retention
On-device data stays on your phone for as long as you keep Dawnly installed, and is erased the moment you delete the app. Purchase receipts held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained under their own respective retention rules, not Dawnly's.
Children
Dawnly isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. Its subject matter — tracking a prescribed GLP-1 medication — presumes an adult or otherwise prescribed user managing their own treatment.
Security
Your data sits in Dawnly's private, sandboxed app storage on your phone, protected by the same operating-system protections — your device passcode and biometric lock among them — that guard every other app on your phone. Dawnly has no server to breach and no transmission channel that your health data ever travels down, which removes an entire category of risk that cloud-connected apps carry.
International transfers
Dawnly itself doesn't transfer your data anywhere — there's no server to send it from. The only data that ever leaves your device is the narrow slice described above, handled by Apple, RevenueCat, and Google AdMob under their own policies, which may involve processing outside your country.
Apple Health
If you turn on Apple Health sync, Dawnly writes your logged weight entries to Health. This is opt-in and off by default, and Dawnly only ever writes to Health — it never reads anything back.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update ships inside a regular Dawnly app update, with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
